M.G. Lloyd's Paintings serve quiet homage to predominantly 19th century (and copyright free) advertising etchings. Heavily researched yet often quite random and mysterious, M.G. Lloyd breaths a new life into antique iconography and concept. Most of the reference materials are very small black and white images that are translated through a vintage palette with painting technique inspired by American folk art. These paintings range from almost pop art obscurity, text, and color to quiet and dark renderings of life in the 1800's depicting man as predator. All paintings are acrylic and watercolor pencils.
